Tributes to retired Mayo priest on his passing
Tributes are being paid to retired Rev. Fr. Michael O' Malley, Rosscarbery, Co. Cork, and late of Carnaseer, Dunmore, Co. Galway, whose death has taken place.
The deceased served for many years as a curate in the Castlebar parish where he is fondly remembered.
He died unexpectedly at Cork University Hospital after a short illness.
Fr. O'Malley was predeceased by his parents William and Bridie, his brothers Fr. Charlie, John and Tom, sisters Mary (Ruth), Elizabeth (Keirns), Teresa (Godfrey), Sr. Philomena, Kathleen (O' Loughlin), and nephews Peter, John and Cathal.
He is sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
Fond tributes are being paid to him on social media.
One stated: "He is remembered for his dedication and attention to all in the parish of Castlebar in his ministery."
Another said: "I most remember his humour, dedication and great singing voice. When he came to our class reunions he lead the hymns with great gusto."
A further tribute said: "Father O'Malley will be always in our heart and always remembered with his big smile and kind words."
Reposing at Glynn’s Funeral Home Dunmore, this evening (Monday) from 5 p.m. with removal at 6.30 p.m. to the Church of Our Lady & St. Nicholas, Dunmore.
Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in Dunmore Cemetery.
