Mayo Sligo and Letrim ETB pick up top awards

Mayo Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) scooped the national award for Education at this year’s ETB Excellence Awards, held in Croke Park as part of ETB Week 2025, which showcases Ireland’s sixteen ETBs and the services they provide to learners of all ages.

The Revolutionary Women of Mayo 1918-1923 Project, by St. Joseph’s Community College, Charlestown, won the national 2025 Excellence in Education award.

The project examined the forgotten lives of revolutionary women and the valuable duties they carried out during the Irish War of Independence and the Civil War.

MSLETB were also runners up in the Award for Excellence in Equality with their Level 5 Specific Purpose Certificate in Workplace Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion developed by Ballina Training Centre.

The Awards, hosted by former ETB learner and RTE Newsreader Ray Kennedy and featuring a special musical performance by former ETB student and singer-songwriter Tolü Makay, highlighted learner and staff excellence across primary, secondary, further education and training, and youth services.
