Mayo's Inishkeas the subject of historical and archaeological Society talk
THE Mayo Historical and Archaeological Society will present the final talk in its series on Wednesday, April 2, at 7.30 p,m. in the ATU campus, Castlebar.
The title of the presentation is The Inishkea Islands - Archaeology and History.
The speaker is author Brian Dornan, who has a masters degree in archaeology from UCD and also a degree in local history from Maynooth University.
His book, Mayo's Lost Islands - The Inishkeas, was published in 2000 and his next book on the Inishkea Islands is due to be launched this coming autumn. It will explore Brian's further and latest research on the islands.
The Inishkea islands are situated in north Mayo, 3km off the coast of Blacksod, Belmullet. There has been great interest in the spectacularly beautiful, interesting and unspoiled islands in recent times.
The society is eagerly looking forward to this presentation and hope you enjoyed their six talks over the last season - thank you for your support, and also the ATU for the use of the facilities and backup support.
The society's programme of events will continue with field trips during the summer months.
