Warning lights out at Mayo primary schools

WHO is responsible for repairing warning lights at schools, a Mayo councillor wants to know.

Councillor Ger Deere has raised the matter at council level, citing issues at schools in Cornanool, Cloggernagh and Snugboro.

And at one of the busiest schools in the county – at Gallows Hill in Castlebar – the lights haven't worked for years.

Is it the ESB or the council who are responsible, he asked council management at a municipal meeting.

The issue seems to be electrical and it wasn't a big job, but it needs to be sorted for the safety of school children, he said.
