Hospital overcrowding: 453 patients waiting for beds

A total of 453 patients are waiting for beds in Irish hospitals, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) Trolley Watch.

This includes 299 patients on trolleys in emergency departments, while 154 are in wards elsewhere in hospitals.

The most overcrowded hospital is University Hospital Limerick (UHL), where there are 74 patients waiting for a bed. This includes 29 people waiting in A&E, and 45 in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

UHL is followed by Letterkenny University Hospital (40 patients waiting for beds), Cork University Hospital (CUH - 40 patients), and Tallaght University Hospital (34 patients).

The most overcrowded emergency hospital is CUH (36 patients), followed by UHL (29 patients), the Mater Hospital (25 patients) and Tallaght University Hospital (24 patients).
