Mayo IFA hosting farm succession meeting
THE Mayo IFA executive are holding on open meeting for landowners on the issue of transferring the family farm, otherwise known as succession planning.
The ever-evolving nature of time passing and the sometimes thorny issue of planning the transfer of the family farm can cause many headaches among the farming fraternity, according to John Lynskey, Mayo IFA county chairman.
Mr. Lynskey advised that the meeting will take place in the Travellers Friend Hotel, Castlebar, on Tuesday next, April 15, at 8 p.m.
Speakers will include Martin Clarke, commercial manager with IFAC Accountants, where he will set out the process of transferring the farm or property in a tax efficient way, and Donal Quinn of Quinn Solicitors, Athenry, who will outline the legal process involved in the transfer farmland and or associated property.
The Mayo IFA chairman advised any landowner in the county who is in the process or even thinking about transferring the farm to attend the meeting on April 15 where excellent professional advice will be available.
