Recipients of Mayo arts funding are announced
Mayo County Council Arts Service has to announce the successful recipients of the annual bursaries and awards artist supports.
Tyrone Guthrie Bursary
The Tyrone Guthrie Bursary which supports an artist to spend one week at Tyrone Guthrie centre, a residential facility for creative artists in Co. Monaghan was allocated to 4 artists.
This year’s recipients are visual musician Anna Murray and visual artists Joanna Hopkins, Pauline Garavan and Margaret Morrisson.
Drama League of Ireland Summer School Award
There were two recipients of the Drama League of Ireland Summer School Award which will cover costs to attend the Drama League of Ireland Residential Summer School in 2025. This year’s recipients are Aoife Creaby and Fiona Hoban.
Mayo Artist Bursary
There were 80 eligible applications to the Mayo Artist Bursary.
The sum of €32,000 was allocated to 39 Mayo Artists, representing 49% of applicants. The bursary aims to support the work of professional artists, working in any artform, at all stages of their career.
This is an initiative of Mayo County Council Arts Service in partnership with the Arts Council.

Literature
Anne Donnelly, Christina Hennemann, Micheal Donnellan, Morag Prunty, Marie Troxel and Finola Cahill.
Theatre
Kevin Toolis, Circus and Dea Birkett.

Arts Act Grants
Arts Act Grants supports groups, organisations, festivals in the county to deliver and present arts programme and events in a given year.
This year the following groups and organisations received support:
Admiral Brown CCÉ (Foxford Trad Weekend), Ballina Chamber of Commerce (Salmon Festival), Ballina Fringe Festival, Bófield CCÉ (Mayo Fleadh), Circus 250, Claremorris Drama & Fringe Festival, Cliara Development Company (Clare Island Film Festival), Inisturk Community Club CLG, NCF Cultural Co-op, Scoil Acla CCÉ, Siamsa Sraide, Westival, Westport Festival of Chamber Music, Westport Folk & Bluegrass, Westport Jazz, WhistleBlast Quartet and Wild Atlantic Words.
All schemes are competitive and subject to criteria. All applications are assessed independent panels.
