The Christian Fellowship Church at the Mall, Castlebar.

Plea to community to help restore unique piece of Mayo history

A plea has been issued to help save a unique piece of Mayo history right the heart of Castlebar.

It relates to a truly special building — the Wesleyan Chapel at the Mall — built in 1785 and the only place in Ireland where John Wesley himself laid the foundation stone.

Today, that same chapel is home to Castlebar Christian Fellowship, a thriving, growing church community serving children, youth, and adults with faith, hope and real connection.

But time is catching up with the building.

The roof, historic windows, and structure urgently need restoration — and the fellowship is on a mission to raise the funds needed to preserve this one-of-a-kind heritage site.

It has already raised nearly 25% of the €194,000 needed — now it's reaching out to the community, near and far.

Can you help keep this landmark alive for future generations?

Every euro counts.
