All set for a great evening of darts in Mayo

Excitement is building across Castlebar as the 2025 Castlebar Darts Town League Finals Day returns to Garbo’s Venue this Saturday (April 19), bringing the curtain down on another thrilling season.

With three hotly anticipated finals across Divisions 3, 2 and 1, the night promises non-stop drama and passionate local support, with plenty of silverware on the line.

The action kicks off at 5 p.m. with the Division 3 final, where Castle Inn 2 face off against The Harp, fresh off their impressive run to the cup final.

Castle Inn 2 captain Nathan Barrett said: “We’re delighted to have made it to the final as a new team – especially because more than half of us haven’t played in the Town League before. We’re really looking forward to the game against The Harp on Saturday evening.

“I want to wish the best of luck to the Castle Inn 1 team as well. I hope it’s a good day for the Castle Inn, and between the two teams, it’d be great if we have a cup to display front and centre for when the pub opens back up!”

The Harp captain, Tommy McManus, added: “I’d like to thank the committee for organising another successful Castlebar Darts Town League. Let’s hope The Harp will come out on top and we have some silverware to have on show.”

At 7.30 p.m. the Division 2 final takes centre stage, pitting unbeaten debutants The Turlough Inn against last year’s Division 3 winners Castle Inn 1.

Castle Inn 1 captain Shane Quigley stated: “It’s brilliant to have both Castle Inn teams represented in two finals on the day. I have to pay tribute to our own team, though – coming from Division 3 last year to making the final of Division 2 is some achievement.

“We have a massive challenge ahead of us against The Turlough Inn, but hopefully we can keep it up now and go all the way.”

Turlough Inn captain James Kelly shared: “It’s The Turlough Inn’s first year having a team in the Town League, so it’s great to get to the final in our first year. We have a great bunch of lads who have been there all year and put in the effort, and Dennis, the proprietor, has been very good to us.

“It would be great to bring the cup back out to Turlough, but there is a very good Castle Inn team with loads of experience standing in our way. We will do our best.”

The night’s headline act comes at 10 p.m. with the Division 1 final – a repeat of last year’s showdown between defending champions Flynn's 1 and perennial finalists Paddy Moran’s, who are appearing in their 17th consecutive Division 1 decider.

Paddy Moran’s captain Dwayne Flynn is relishing the occasion. He said: “It’s great to be back in another final. Division 1 was very competitive this year. Our goal was to reach the final, though we had a very tough battle against a very strong Hogs Heaven team in the semi-finals.

“Credit to our lads who have kept at it year in, year out. A few setbacks along the way, but we are where we want to be. We know we’re up against the defending champions, but boy we’ll be trying our best to bring the trophy to Paddy Moran’s!”

Ultan McDyer, captain of Flynn's 1, added: “We’re looking forward to the final. Rematch of last year. Hopefully it’s a good night for both teams involved. Best of luck to Paddy Moran's.”

Admission to the finals day is free, so whether you're a darts fanatic or just looking for a great night out, make sure to get down to Garbo’s this Saturday and support your local teams. There’s nothing like the buzz of finals night – a brilliant celebration of sport, community and competition.
