Pinnacles of the society's legacy to date include performing at the EU buildings in Brussels in 2013, participating in the National Choral Project for the 1916 commemorations, and singing at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome during Easter 2017.

Award-winning harpist and composer Alannah Thornburgh accompanies them, with her unique blend of traditional Irish harp, Irish folk and American jazz influences.

SARAH MCQUAID

With a rich, chocolatey voice and utterly absorbing stage presence, Sarah McQuaid will deliver one of her unforgettable performances on Thursday, May 1. Praised for “subtle mastery” (Huffington Post) and “brilliant musicianship” (fRoots), she seamlessly fuses acoustic and electric guitar, piano, and occasional percussion to create a deeply immersive musical journey.

Born in Spain, raised in Chicago, and now living in rural England, Sarah brings a wealth of cultural and musical influences to her work. A former folk music columnist for the Evening Herald and reviewer for Hot Press magazine, she also spent many years in Ireland, informing her genre-defying sound.

Her latest album and video series, The St Buryan Sessions, showcases the breadth and depth of her artistry. Although, nothing compares to seeing her live, an experience that truly reveals the magic of her music.

THE WRITE HOURS

Inspiring opportunities for writers of all levels are being presented.

The Write Hours, a four-week workshop series led by acclaimed writer Alice Kinsella, commences on May 6. Held in a supportive and structured environment, these sessions offer guided prompts, dedicated writing time, and valuable peer feedback to help participants explore different facets of the writing process.

For those drawn to personal storytelling, Alice will also lead a one-day workshop, ‘Your Side of the Story: An Introduction to Memoir’, on May 31. Participants will garner fresh insights into the memoir form and a clearer sense of the story they want to share. No prior experience is required.

In the meantime, comedian David O'Doherty will lighten hearts with his quirky combination of song and stand-up at Tiny Piano Man on Saturday, April 26.
