'Giving out stink' about state of road in west Mayo
THE condition of the road from Westport to Louisburgh has been raised with Mayo County Council.
Delivery trucks transporting goods to a local builders providers have suffered damage, Councillor Chris Maxwell has highlighted.
“When will road works proceed there,” he asked council management.
Artic truck owners making deliveries were 'giving out stink' about the condition of the R335, telling the local store manager that it's the worst road they travel in Mayo.
If they were to stop supplying, jobs could be at stake, he warned.
Said Councillor Maxwell: “I need answers for the whole community as to when work will start to improve that road.”
Meanwhile, Councillor Maxwell had some good news in relation to the butcher's shop in Louisburgh closing down.
Through negotiations, they have hopefully secured a new butcher to take it over within three weeks time.
