Life-saving AEDs being rolled out along Mayo greenway

A life-saving initiative is being rolled out along the Great Western Greenway.

Public access AEDs are being installed along the route in memory of Westport man John Moore (Zulu), who died suddenly in January 2023.

Westport Community First Responders have reported that two of the devices are now live, with more to follow.

John was a much loved figure in the community and his wife Nora, daughter Patricia and extended family have raised funds to purchase a number of public access AEDs to be placed along the greenway in his memory.

Two have gone live in the past week, with more to follow in the coming weeks, the first responders group reported on their social media in an update.

The first AED is located at Midwest Furniture (Eircode F28 VW64).

The second is located in the phone box outside Michael McLoughlin's home along the greenway (F28 FW77).

The group has extended thanks to everyone who helped make the initiative happen.
