Mulranny Arts launches stellar Mayo Summer series for 2025

Mulranny Arts has announced a vibrant lineup of music and theatre performances for its Summer Series of Events 2025, promising a rich cultural offering in the heart of west Mayo.

Set in the atmospheric Oratory at The Old Convent, tucked between the Church and Mulranny National School, this unique venue will once again provide an intimate setting known for its warmth and superb acoustics.

Spanning from May to September, the Summer Series brings an eclectic mix of talent from across Ireland and beyond:

Opening the series on May 30, acclaimed musician Donal O’Connor will be joined by special guest, landscape artist Padraig McCaul, who will surprise audiences with his saxophone talents in a night blending storytelling, music, and conversation.

On June 21, rising folk stars Teague and Joyce take to the stage, accompanied by Maidhc O’Heanaigh (double bass) and Neil Fitzgibbon (fiddle). Following a whirlwind year, including a shortlisted Grammy-nomination and performances on RTÉ and TG4.

Theatre meets music on July 12 with "At War With Mercy", a powerful play interwoven with 16 Leonard Cohen songs. Written and presented by John McKenna, the performance features a stellar cast of musicians and actors exploring themes of conflict and compassion through Cohen’s legendary work.

Jazz lovers are in for a treat on July 26 as Karen Underwood, Cork’s celebrated jazz diva, brings her soul-stirring tribute to Nina Simone to Mayo. Fresh off five sellout shows at Cork Opera House, Underwood’s performance honours Simone’s strength, struggles, and voice.

Achill Island’s own Graham Sweeney will take audiences on an emotional journey through song and story on August 8, combining fingerstyle guitar, rhythmic vocals, and immersive soundscapes that reflect the spirit of the West.

Finally, on September 13, Ultan Conlon returns to Mulranny by popular demand. Known for his poignant lyrics and voice reminiscent of Roy Orbison, Conlon’s 2024 performance left audiences wanting more.

Tickets for all events are now available via the Mulranny Arts website at www.mulrannyarts.com/events.
