Mayo racecourse's McHale Raceday 2025 officially launched
The McHale Raceday 2025 has been officially launched at the newly opened McHale showroom by freelance broadcaster Meghann Scully.
Now in its 12th year, McHale Raceday has firmly established itself as one of the highlights of the Irish racing calendar in the west, with this year’s event set to take place on Monday, May 26, at Ballinrobe Racecourse.
Meghann was joined at the launch by representatives from both McHale and Ballinrobe Racecourse. As part of the event, she was given an exclusive tour of the new McHale showroom and factory floor, gaining insight into the long-standing and successful partnership between the Ballinrobe-based agricultural machinery company and the local racecourse.
Speaking at the launch, Meghann said: “I was delighted to be part of the McHale Raceday launch. Having been to Ballinrobe Races before, I love the day itself and the atmosphere. It’s a great day for the local community and for the racing community.”
The partnership between McHale and Ballinrobe Racecourse continues to grow, with the raceday offering the richest purse of the Ballinrobe racing season. Once again, the feature event will be the McHale Mayo National, boasting a prize fund of €100,000. Last year’s contest was won by Duffle Coat, trained by Gordon Elliott and ridden by Sam Ewing.
Other exciting races on the card include the McHale Mayo Hurdle and the McHale Tiger Roll Beginners Steeplechase, named in honour of the two-time Grand National winner who previously won this race at Ballinrobe.
Padraic McHale, managing director of McHale, expressed his pride in the continuing partnership. He said: “We are delighted to be teaming up again with our neighbours, Ballinrobe Races, to sponsor the McHale Raceday, which has gone from strength to strength since our sponsorship began 12 years ago.
“Credit is due to John and his team at Ballinrobe Racecourse for their dedication on and off the track. McHale Raceday continues to grow in attendance and racing quality, and we’re looking forward to another exciting day on Monday, May 26.”
Racecourse manager John Flannelly added: “It’s hard to believe we’re entering our 12th year of McHale Raceday. I really enjoyed the launch event with Meghann and all the team at McHale and I am looking forward to viewing the interview series we recorded, which will be available on our social media channels in the coming weeks. It gives a fantastic insight into what makes this raceday so special.”
Ballinrobe Racecourse is also thrilled to confirm that Rásaí Beo on TG4 will return to broadcast live from the race meeting, bringing all the action and atmosphere of the flagship raceday to viewers across the country.
McHale Raceday 2025 takes place on Monday, May 26, with the first race going to post at 4.25 p.m. Tickets and hospitality packages are now available at www.ballinroberacecourse.ie.
