Sarah McQuaid tour coming to Mayo
WITH a rich, chocolatey voice and utterly absorbing stage presence, Sarah McQuaid will deliver one of her unforgettable performances at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday, May 1.
Praised for “subtle mastery” (Huffington Post) and “brilliant musicianship” (fRoots), she seamlessly fuses acoustic and electric guitar, piano, and occasional percussion to create a deeply immersive musical journey.
Born in Spain, raised in Chicago, and now living in rural England, Sarah brings a wealth of cultural and musical influences to her work.
A former folk music columnist for the Evening Herald and reviewer for Hot Press magazine, she also spent many years in Ireland, informing her genre-defying sound.
Her latest album and video series, The St Buryan Sessions, showcases the breadth and depth of her artistry. Although, nothing compares to seeing her live, an experience that truly reveals the magic of her music.
Ahead of her seven-week Ireland and UK tour, McQuaid released a live video of a new song that she says will likely become the title track of her next album.
Entitled 'I’m Slowing Down As I Get Older (And That’s Good)', the song carries an upbeat message about living in the present, with a bluesy flavour that evokes Sarah’s roots in Chicago, where she spent most of her childhood before moving to Ireland and then on to Cornwall.
The plan is to record the new album this summer and release it early next year.
Tickets for Sarah's Castlebar concert are available via the Linenhall.
The video can be viewed on Sarah’s YouTube channel as well as on the Video page of her website.
