Cancer charity fundraiser on Croagh Patrick coincides with construction start on Daisy Lodge Mayo

LACE up those hiking boots and put your best foot forward on Saturday, June 7, to climb Croagh Patrick in aid of Cancer Fund for Children, a charity that provides vital support to children and young people impacted by cancer.

Speaking about the challenge, former Taoiseach and Cancer Fund for Children International Ambassador, Enda Kenny said: “Cancer Fund for Children are world leaders in what they do and their engagement with families having to cope with a childhood cancer diagnosis is extraordinary.

“That engagement provides a legacy of happy memories and provides a wonderful human response in what can be very trying circumstances. People understand this and I know they will respond in a way that will again demonstrate Ireland’s ability to lead the world in response to these situations.

“Cancer Fund for Children’s therapeutic centre Daisy Lodge will prove to be the role model to follow in all other countries.

“The charity’s Croagh Patrick Climb in June will be especially meaningful, as it coincides with the start of construction on Daisy Lodge, which will be located in Cong, and I hope as many people as possible will join this challenge to help raise vital funds.”

The cost to register is €25 per person and includes food and refreshments. All participants will automatically be set up with an iDonate fundraising page to help them raise vital funds for Cancer Fund for Children. Please note that participants must be aged 18 and over to take part in this challenge.

Every week across the island of Ireland, approximately 10 children and young people (age 0-24) receive a cancer diagnosis, turning their world and their families’ worlds upside down. The funds raised from this challenge will allow Cancer Fund for Children to provide critical emotional, social, and therapeutic support - ensuring no family has to face cancer alone.
